An Inquiry-Based approach to learning is implemented at St Francis de Sales. This approach fosters deep thinking and investigating. It engages students in actively investigating questions of interest and significance, characterised by the engagement of students. The approach builds on student’s prior knowledge and ends in some kind of real action or application using the understandings and skills gained throughout the investigation. Inquiry-based learning fosters independence and collaboration. In Years 3-6, teachers and students co-design shared inquiries that challenge students to apply their learning to make a difference in their world.
Our inquiry approach is organised and guided by the Australian Curriculum for Victorian Schools. The St. Francis de Sales community created this document – The Francis Framework to ensure curriculum is delivered well to our students reflecting our community’s priorities.
