Caring for our Students

Student Wellbeing

At St Francis de Sales, we believe student wellbeing is the foundation of success, addressing spiritual, cognitive, and social needs through Positive Education. Our culture prioritizes resilience and positive relationships, ensuring every student feels valued and engaged.

This approach is powered by two key frameworks: Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), which provides a consistent school-wide structure for behavior, and the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM), which uses trauma-informed strategies to boost engagement and self-management

Child Safety

At St Francis de Sales we hold the care, safety and well-being of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school

Our commitment is drawn from and inherent in the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the gospel (CECV Commitment Statement to Child Safety). The person of each individual human being, in his or her material and spiritual needs, is at the heart of Christ’s teaching, that is why the promotion of the human person is the goal of the Catholic school (Congregation for Catholic Education 1997, n. 9).

Cyber Safety

Our school partners with Inform and Empower to deliver a proactive, teacher-led cyber safety program. Each term, students participate in live, interactive incursions that tackle essential topics like privacy, cyberbullying, and digital wellbeing. By moving beyond “one-off” talks, this program ensures safety strategies stay top-of-mind for our students throughout the year.

This partnership also supports our families with termly tip sheets, providing practical advice to bridge the gap between school and home. Together, we are equipping our students with the “superpowers” to be brave, kind, and clever in an ever-changing digital world.
